About Us

Originally Chaplin’s was a Brewery and the houses surrounding the Brewery Yard were for the workers. It then became The Haworth Cycling Club. In 1994 two local business men bought it and it became HC’s The Haworth Club, then on November 21st 1997 it became Chaplin’s Bistro, co-owned by Julie and Charles.

Charles started his career at the Bradford Union Club, he then went to work for the Hones at the Greentop Restaurant in Clayton. In 1993 he moved to the Pennington Midland Hotel in Bradford, then in 1997 he had the chance to co own and develop what is now Chaplin’s.

Julie started at sixteen full time City & Guilds at Bradford College for two years. In 1981 she started work at he Greentop Restaurant, at twenty one she worked a season in Jersey, then returned as head chef to the Greentop. Still wanting to travel she joined the QE2 for eighteen months completing a world tour in 1988. Julie worked at a few restaurants around Bradford including The Guide Post at Low Moore. In 1990 she went over to Australia where she worked for Country Comforts in Batemans Bay N.S.W. Julie decided the only reason she would stay in England was if she had her own business. In July 1992 Julie & her brother David bought The Cobbled Way in Main Street Haworth, then in 1997 she bought her second business Chaplin’s.
